Pay attention to the process of language, the acquisition is critical to make sure everything is going in the right phase or if there are problems that need to be investigated and treated. How language is directly related to hearing, it is important to note the willingness of children to a variety of sounds throughout childhood. This evaluation can be done when the baby is still at the nursery (newborn hearing screening or otoacoustic emissions) and / or further along in its development (audiometry, for example).
The most common causes of speech disorders are temporary hearing loss (such as those caused by infections of the ear) or permanent. There are still gaps and remaining addictions (such as thumb sucking, prolonged use of pacifier and bottle, among others) that could impair proper development of muscles of the face, hindering the production of some sounds. The disturbance in the acquisition or development of speech may also occur for reasons neurological.
At the time of breastfeeding make the child in sitting position. This prevents the milk go to the eustachian tube and reach the ear, causing ear infections.
Encourage your child to speak, when he wants something. Do not forward it to serve simply as a gesture use, for example, when you want to point an object out of reach.
Always talk with your child correctly. Avoid exchanging letters and over-diminutives.
To correct the wrong phrase spoken by the child, just repeat it correctly without drawing attention to the error, but emphasizing the hit.
Follow the guidance of a pediatrician and, given time, make the inclusion of solid foods that require chewing.
Do not extend the use of pacifiers and bottles. If the child uses a pacifier, it only restricts the hours of sleep or in moments of pain and anxiety. The limit for use of those tools is up to two years of age.
